Message To Young Adults — Part 1
2 Corinthians 6:17
“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean
thing; and I will receive you,” (AKJV)
Jesus wants you while your mind and body is young and energetic. Sadly, so does the kingdom of darkness! We can learn a lot from the mistakes of kings who were godly men of great power and were given favor from God only to later, fall into idolatry and witchcraft. When I was in college, I was surrounded by all types of people; some of whom were into some serious stuff including drugs, gangs and the occult. While I did not partake with them, I found myself affected and somewhat infected by their acts. While Lot, Abraham’s nephew was not a king he found himself in Sodom and Gomorrah because he was looking for a place where he could call his own, he was “vexed” by the actions of the men of Sodom although he did not engage in the wicked sexual acts of Sodom. If you are around evil, you are affected and infected by it and there are many possible outcomes. I preached on the subject a few weeks ago. A woman with a spirit of witchcraft followed the Apostle Paul around heckling him until he commanded the evil spirit to leave the woman. If evil is effecting you, command the kingdom of darkness to leave you alone in the name of Jesus. Also renounce all sin in your life; meaning purpose in your heart to denounce all sins that you have committed!!!! There is no deliverance without development.
Furthermore, if you are around people who are involved in witchcraft, know that these evil crafts can be serious hindrances to your life. If you are around people who practice pagan worship, superstitions, or witchcraft, ask God to deliver you from the evil works of Satan. The following scriptures give biblical evidence of the consequences of getting involved with evil:
I Chronicles 10:13 “Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord; he did not keep the word of the Lord and even consulted a medium for guidance,” (NIV)
I Samuel 15:23 “For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.” (NIV)
In Nehemiah 13:26 “Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin.” (AKJV)
Therefore, if these great kings were vulnerable to witchcraft what about us??!!
I need not tell you that what others do will have an influence on our spiritual walk. While we might not choose whom we associate or have a relationship, we must protect ourselves from the evil influences of others. First , when my roommates or associates were involved in something negative or evil, I would go to God on them and God moved them out of the way. Secondly, pray to God for wisdom on how to deal with the actions of those around you. Thirdly, strengthen your prayer life and spend more time studying the word. Fourthly, ask God for wisdom on how to witness to your associates or friends. Finally, it is necessary that you separate yourself from people engaging in evil activity. Even as an adult, I have to be careful that I not associate with the evil works of others.
